Science summit focuses on cleaning up our contaminated world
Adelaide is host to an international science summit from 7-15 September that will focus on how we clean up our contaminated world.
CleanUp 2011 incorporates the 6th International Workshop on Chemical Bioavailability in the Terrestrial Environment (7-9 September 2011) and the 4th International Contaminated Site Remediation Conference (11-15 September 2011). It is hosted by the CRC for Contamination Assessment and Remediation of the Environment (CRC CARE).
The forum will be attended by eminent international clean-up scientists and leaders of industry who will discuss issues including:
- Health risks from emerging contaminants
- Ways to solve the global e-waste threat
- Nanotechnology for a cleaner environment
- Developing world-class remediation
- Extracting real value from waste
- New clean-up solutions and opportunities for industry
- A national remediation approach for Australia
CleanUp 2011 convener Professor Ravi Naidu says: “There is a golden opportunity for Australia - and Adelaide - to take a lead in developing the knowledge and technologies that will helps us to overcome global problems of toxic contamination.
“Some of the best minds in the world on this issue are meeting here over the next nine days, while at the same time business leaders will gather to discuss how ‘green industry’ can make ours a cleaner, healthier, safer environment.”
