Regional council buys Volvo trucks

Bundaberg Council has recently selected the Volvo FE for its next waste collection units in order to reduce its environmental impact and improve operator comfort. The council will also be using Volvo’s Dynafleet fleet management system which tracks every aspect of truck performance.

SITA Environmental Solutions’ new fleet of kerbside collection vehicles, powered by compressed natural gas (CNG), has been officially commissioned in South Australia. The fleet of 23 vehicles will service the Northern Adelaide Waste Management Authority (NAWMA) council regions of Playford, Salisbury and Gawler with fortnightly recycling and garden and food organics collections, and a weekly general waste collection.

The Volvo FE waste truck is powered by a new Euro 5-compliant, 7-litre, 6-cylinder diesel engine, which generates 300 hp. The engine is turbocharged and the wide torque range and quick response to accelerator ensures good driveability.
