Environmental management salaries leap forward

For the first time in five years, environmental salaries have overtaken that of safety professionals, survey results have revealed. The survey includes data from over 60 Australian companies, primarily from the ASX 200, and covers a diverse range of industries including energy, resources, construction, manufacturing, industrial and retail.

The idea has been around for years. A new study by researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory - the first to use a global model to study the question - has found that implementing cool roofs and cool pavements in cities around the world can not only help cities stay cooler, they can also cool the world, with the potential of cancelling the heating effect of up to two years of worldwide carbon dioxide emissions.
