Carbon accounting and reporting software

CarbonView is a carbon accounting and reporting software solution that enables users to calculate their organisation’s carbon footprint, monitor it in real time and use intelligent algorithms when planning a balanced environmental and financially sustainable strategy to address greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
It consists of three integrated modules — Footprinter, Visibility and Optimiser — which, when implemented in support of Supply Chain Consulting’s five-stage Carbon Management Maturity Model (CM3), combine to deliver a complete carbon management solution. CM3 provides a set of guidelines to determine where an organisation is positioned in terms of environmental strategy and to create a long-term path to financial optimised carbon management practices.
The software can help sustainability managers ascertain a more detailed understanding of which processes, services or assets contribute most to their overall carbon footprint. Combined with the ability to track emissions in real time, it allows managers to better determine and target reduction strategies, and access information that can assist in the creation of internal GHG reduction policies and best practices.
The software is used by Australian organisations to ensure carbon accounting and reporting compliance with National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007 and to prepare for the introduction of the national emissions trading scheme in 2010. The software incorporates all the Australian National Greenhouse Accounting factors and guidelines. It enables companies to model their company structure and capture emissions at various levels, from a specific local facility level to a more aggregated corporate level.
Companies can divide overall emissions into specific categories which allow them to use specifically developed methodologies to accurately calculate and report the emissions from each sector and source category. For example, a company can report carbon footprint by business unit/facility, country, source type (stationary combustion, process, fugitive, etc) and activity type (production of electricity, consumption of electricity, generation or purchased electricity that is sold to end users, etc).
CarbonView footprint reductions can help eliminate unnecessary costs, streamline operations, improve asset utilisation, support social responsibility policies and lessen an organisation’s impact on the environment at a local, national, regional and international level.
