BYD, a manufacturer of rechargeable lithium batteries, is targeting the Australian energy storage market with its innovative B-Box portfolio of battery storage products.

BYD launched its B-Box lithium battery storage systems in Australia in February this year, in the form of a low- (48 V) and high-voltage (256–460 V) version. Said to provide increased efficiency, economy and flexibility, both versions of the product were on display at All-Energy Australia earlier this month.

Operating a B-Box LV with a Goodwe S-BP inverter or a B-Box HV with an SMA Sunny Boy Storage inverter is said to result in a particularly efficient combination, especially for consumers who already have solar panels installed. Another advantage of the BYD B-Box systems is that they are modular and scalable from 2.5 to 442 kWh, so users can increase the capacity of the parallel battery rack to meet different energy storage requirements.

Julia Chen, global sales director of batteries for BYD, said the company is excited at the prospects offered by the Australian renewable energy market and believes that BYD has the right product portfolio to fulfil the requirements of on- and off-grid, single- and three-phase for residential and commercial application.

“Since we launched here only seven months ago, we have worked to consolidate our presence by appointing key distributors around the country to give us good national coverage,” said Chen.

“We have received strong interest from solar energy installers who are very attracted to our extremely competitive product range.

“As well as our new products that particularly target the residential retrofit market, we have products that are suitable for first-time solar users which can be scaled up from 81.92 to 441.6 kWh, which also makes them suitable for the small commercial, schools and such uses as water pumps for government and irrigators.”
