Qld wind farm agreement to power 360,000 homes
GreenPoint Energy (GPE) has entered into a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Queensland’s CleanCo for its 600 MW Jackson North Wind Farm.
The PPA would see CleanCo purchase 100% of Jackson North’s output, supporting the state’s growing energy needs.
Located in Queensland’s Western Downs and co-located with existing agricultural and industrial land uses, Jackson North Wind Farm, once operational, will add new capacity as one of Queensland’s largest wind projects, generating enough clean energy to power over 360,000 Queensland homes.
Construction is targeted to begin in 2028, subject to the remaining approvals, and will support around 350 jobs.
Roby Camagong, Co-CEO, GreenPoint Energy, said, “Signing this 20-year PPA with CleanCo is a strong endorsement of the confidence that the market has in GreenPoint Energy’s ability to develop and deliver high-quality renewable energy projects.
“Long-term agreements like this underpin our ability to attract investment and deliver the next generation of renewable energy projects. Working alongside CleanCo reinforces our track record of partnering with government-owned energy organisations to deliver the renewable energy infrastructure needed for Australia’s energy transition.”
Tom Metcalfe, CEO, CleanCo Queensland, said, “The Jackson North Wind Farm will strengthen CleanCo’s renewable portfolio, helping us continue to provide lower-emissions energy solutions for Queensland businesses while supporting Queensland’s growing energy needs.
“CleanCo works with industry and private sector to deliver practical outcomes for Queensland’s energy future, and this partnership demonstrates how collaboration can help unlock investment and deliver long-term value for Queensland.”
