RRS Company is a member of Magaldi Group, which operates all over the world. It designs, produces and installs systems and devices for moving and processing high-temperature materials. RRS Company is situated in the town of Buccino in the province of Salerno, Italy.

Recently, RRS Company decided to install and test photovoltaic technology on its own with a 2 MWp totally integrated rooftop system. The choice of exploiting solar energy represents a natural step, as the company says it has always cared a lot about environmental issues.

RRS Company decided to use Yingli Solar modules because of the good results the company had been achieving in other European countries. Yingli also had a very good price/performance rate, which is extremely important in order to get the best possible earnings on the capital invested.

The new system is one of the biggest totally integrated rooftop PV systems in Italy, yet the installation process was very efficient and was finalised in just three months. Furthermore, the constant monitoring system revealed a much bigger power production compared to the initial estimations.

The 2 MWp of solar modules installed produce about 2500 kW/h yearly while avoiding emissions of 1500 tonnes of CO2 per year. The energy generated through this PV system can satisfy the requirements for electricity of around 1000 families composed of four people - that’s four times the power consumption of the production plant. 100% of the solar energy generated gets into the local electricity grid.

“We think that from an economical point of view, the choice of solar energy is a very profitable investment, with a high and long-term yield for the company,” explained Giancarlo Cattaneo of RSS-Magaldi Group. “And also, by reducing the costs for the electricity required for our manufacturing process, we obtained a competitive advantage for our products too, which are now made through clean energy.”
