Tsurumi KTZ series 1000 V mining pumps

Tsurumi has introduced 1000 V versions of the KTZ series mining pumps. The machines are three-phase, cast iron dewatering pumps previously only available in 415 V configuration. Their features reduce operating costs for mines and reduce downtime.

The product’s antiwicking cable entry is absolutely watertight. It achieves this through an antiwicking block provided at the cable entry section of the motor chambers. Even if the cable jacket is damaged or the tip of the cable is immersed in water, the device prevents water from travelling into the water chamber through capillary action.

The pumps also feature dual silicon carbide mechanical seals. The seals run in an oil chamber design that eliminates spring failure caused by corrosion or abrasion and keeps both surfaces of the mechanical seal lubricated and cool.

An oil lifter vane inside the oil chamber circulates lubricating oil during pumping. This ensures the mechanical seals are lubricated even if the oil level in the chamber falls. It extends routine pump maintenance and improves operational longevity.

For pumps over 22 kW, the company has developed a leakage sensor. The stainless steel electrode-type device senses water ingress into the oil chamber and will cut the power. The attachment is also available with smaller pumps in the range.
