Onset Computer Corporation has expanded its line of conductivity data loggers with the Hobo U24-002 Conductivity/Salinity data logger.

The data logger is claimed to reduce the cost of monitoring conductivity, salinity and temperature in ocean bays, estuaries and other saltwater environments while making logger maintenance easier. It features a non-contact sensor to reduce fouling-related measurement errors, easy access to the sensor for cleaning and a durable Delrin housing for reliable performance in corrosive coastal environments.

Onset’s Hoboware Pro software makes it easy to graph and analyse water salinity data, and offers a number of features that simplify salinity monitoring projects. It provides easy, accurate conversion of conductivity data to salinity measurements using the Practical Salinity Scale 1978 (PSS-78). Users can enter calibration values from the beginning and end of a deployment to compensate for fouling. The software also makes it easy to combine data sets from multiple loggers and offers one-click data export to Microsoft Excel and other programs.

The Hobo Conductivity/Salinity Logger offloads data to a PC via a convenient optical USB interface, which provides high-speed, reliable data offload. The optical design eliminates problems associated with failure-prone mechanical connectors. The logger is also compatible with Onset’s Hobo Waterproof Shuttle, which provides easy and reliable data retrieval and transport in wet environments.
