Onset HOBO MX1101 temperature/humidity data logger
Onset has announced the HOBO MX1101, a data logger that measures and transmits temperature and humidity data wirelessly to mobile devices via Bluetooth Smart technology.
The wireless data logger, which works with Onset’s free HOBOmobile app for logger set-up and data management, enables the user to access data over a 30 m range from an iOS or Android mobile device. Unlike USB loggers, which need to be set up and offloaded while connected to a computer, the unit communicates instantly and requires no dedicated equipment beyond a mobile device to configure the logger or read out data. This is particularly advantageous in applications where data loggers need to be deployed in hard-to-reach spaces or limited-access areas within a facility.
Without connecting anything or even coming into physical contact with the data logger, users can program it to start, interrogate it for its status, page it to locate it and read out the data to be easily shared. These capabilities, combined with audible and visual alarm notifications, make the product suitable for use in a range of building monitoring applications.
Onset’s HOBOmobile app makes it easy configure the data logger and manage the collected data. Right from a phone or tablet, users can view data in graphs, check the operational status of loggers, share data files and graph images for analysis in Excel, Numbers and other applications, and store data in the cloud.
The app also makes it fast and easy to set up audible alarm notifications so users are immediately notified of problems. For example, if temperatures in a data centre climb to a point where equipment overheating may occur, or if building humidity conditions reach a point that could lead to mould growth, the logger will beep and display alarm notifications so users can take corrective action.
