The dataTaker DT80 and DT85 data loggers, with support for multiple SDI-12 sensor networks, Modbus communications and web-enabled features, are suitable for environmental monitoring projects.

The data logger accepts a USB memory stick for transfer of collected data, controlling functions or sending programs to the logger. A single low-cost USB flash drive can be used to gather data from or reprogram a large number of loggers, all tracked by serial number.

As a robust, standalone, low-power data logger, the DT80 range provides users with a flexible solution. Up to five million data points are stored in secure, non-volatile internal memory with total user control available for multiple data files, overwrite modes, alarm histories and automatically archived event records.

The DT80's universal analog input channels can automatically select measurement range based on the signal level. These channels are isolated and overvoltage protected providing reliable measurements in harsh conditions. Supported measurement and sensor types include temperature, voltage, current, 4-20 mA loops, resistance, bridges, strain gauges and frequency - all returned in engineering units of choice. Switchable excitation and triggering are provided to simplify wiring and installation.

The digital channels provide counter inputs to 100 kHz with state input or output. These channels can also be used as two-phase encoder inputs. In addition, two dedicated counter channels have adjustable thresholds for the monitoring of low-level signals such as magnetic pick-ups. Other digital features include trigger sampling for event logging and a latching relay output to control or power external devices.

Built-in communications devices provide USB, ethernet and RS232 ports together with modem dial-in and dial-out functions. TCP/IP is supported, enabling communications into a local or wide area network. Connecting the DT80 range to any SCADA system is simple with the use of one of the world's most commonly used protocols, Modbus.

Smart Serial sensors such as GPS, dust or atmospheric monitoring systems and other intelligent devices can be connected using the RS242/485/422 serial sensor port.
