AIP to run recycling webinar
The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) has invited all members and industry colleagues to a webinar on 18 October, discussing how Recycle Mate has partnered with APCO to provide recycling advice for used packaging, providing the intersection between Check Locally, the waste and recycling end of the value chains and consumers.
The APCO’s Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) Program is an on-pack labelling scheme that is helping consumers recycle packaging correctly and supporting brand owners and manufacturers to design packaging that is recyclable at end-of-life.
Recycle Mate is a recycling education platform that combines AI with a comprehensive Australian recycling directory to reduce contamination in recycling systems, improve resource recovery and support a circular economy. It communicates local recycling rules and provides granular and current information as recycling systems evolve, as trials are implemented and as new schemes are rolled out. It also provides kerbside advice and directs people to away-from-home recovery options.
The end goal is the Australasian Recycling Label — an on-pack label to provide the most easily accessible recycling/disposal advice for packaging formats accepted with consistent collection schemes nationally supported by mature recycling markets. Recycle Mate is helping navigate the transition.
The partnership shows how organisations across the value chain are collaborating to support optimal recycling behaviours during a transitionary phase as the industry moves towards a circular economy for used packaging.
Speakers will include Lara Barclay, Founder & Director, Adaption Environmental Support and Sarah Sannen, Head of Operations, APCO.
