Sub-surface irrigation system

Friday, 11 September, 2009 | Supplied by: Irrigation & Water Technologies

IWT manufactures KISSS, a sub-surface irrigation system for commercial agricultural and domestic applications. Claimed to use up to 60% less water than conventional irrigation systems, the system is easy to install and maintain.

It has been used in a number of applications, for example at local government parks, gardens and sport fields.

Due to its sub-surface installation, it provides a safe and efficient way to irrigate with recycled water, by evenly dispersing recycled water underground.

Vineyards have reported benefits, for example, reduced weed propagation - which means reduced chemical use and associated labour costs - as well as eliminating traditional irrigation issues, including tunnelling, evaporation, soil erosion and run-off.
