The Orion 1400 Trommel composting machine offers the processor a versatile and productive screening plant. Both wheeled and tracked versions are available and the machine working angle is hydraulically adjustable.

The tail conveyor has a hydraulic folding facility for increased stockpiling capacity and the trommel door is also hydraulically folded to allow quick and easy access for drum removal. It features heavy-duty construction, high capacity, a fast set-up time of around 5 min and a remote control option.

The heart of the machine is the cylindrical trommel screen drum. Measuring 4.3 x 1.5 m, the screen comprises three sections with two meshes per section and Powerscreen's quick-change mesh system.

The four-wheel friction drive system eliminates wear and tear and allows for quick removal and changing of the trommel drum. The drum has variable speed control, which is fully adjustable to 24.5 rpm maximum, with the feed conveyor also having variable speed control. The two combine to provide optimum feed and screening performance to ensure that a wide variety of materials can be effectively and economically processed.

The hopper has a 4.3 m3 capacity and its height is set so that the machine can be easily fed by conveyor, excavator or loading shovel.

Power is supplied by a Caterpillar engine type 3054C, which develops 74 kW (99 hp) at 2200 rpm. The hydraulic systems are from David Brown, Danfoss and White Hydraulics.
