Cardia Bioplastics certified compostable bags

Thursday, 31 March, 2011 | Supplied by: Cardia Bioplastics

Cardia Bioplastics launched an extensive range of certified compostable bags at Auspack Plus 2011. The functional and easy-to-use bags will be sold direct to the public or through authorised distributors in Australia and New Zealand.

The company says the compostable products have been extensively tested and are certified by the major international testing authorities. It sources its own raw materials, formulates and manufactures the resins using its proprietary technology, and produces the bags at its bag-making facilities in Nanjing, China.

Belgium-based Organic Waste Systems independently tested the products and confirmed that they are not toxic to either plants or earthworms.

The Bioplastics compostable products are supplied in a range of sizes and gauges including: 8 and 30 L kitchen tidy bags; 50, 80, 120 and 240 L garbage bin liners; shopping carrier bags; and dog waste and nappy bags.

Key features of the compostable bag products are: biodegradable and compostable; unique ‘soft-touch’ composition; functional and easy to use; good in puncture, tear, heat and grease resistance; breathable and therefore great for controlling odour and dissipating moisture; suitable for collection of food waste; support local council’s domestic organic waste collection programs; and compliant with global standards for compostable plastics and independently certified to: ASTM D6400 (USA), EN13432 (Europe), and AS4736 (Australia).
