Victorian Premier's Sustainability Awards finalists announced

Wednesday, 21 September, 2016

The Victorian Government and the Premier of Victoria are proud to announce the finalists for the 2016 Premier’s Sustainability Awards — a program that has been promoting leadership and innovation in sustainability for the past 14 years.

“These awards represent Victoria’s highest recognition for sustainability, and acknowledge leadership, innovation and achievement,” said Sustainability Victoria Chief Executive Stan Krpan. “Each finalist should be congratulated for improving sustainable outcomes across business, government and within the community.”

One such finalist is building materials manufacturer Casafico, which was named as one of three finalists in the Innovative Products or Services category for its Polystat prefabricated walls — an all-in-one product combining the frame and insulation, with cavities for services and a finished coat, ready for accelerated installation on-site.

Polystat uses waste materials including newspaper, polystyrene and glass, saving them from landfill and transforming them into composite walls ready for on-site building construction and strong enough to be used in load-bearing walls. The result is a prebuilt, user-friendly wall with good thermal properties that exceed standard insulation ratings and reduce the lifetime energy consumption of buildings.

The winners of the Innovative Products or Services category, as well as the nine other award categories, will be announced at a ceremony on 20 October at the Plaza Ballroom in Melbourne. In addition, all finalists will be eligible to be selected for the two Premier’s Recognition Awards, as chosen by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews.
