New AGIC Chair appointed
Arup Global Planning Leader David Singleton has been appointed the new Chairman of the Australian Green Infrastructure Council (AGIC).
Formed in 2008, the council is the infrastructure equivalent of the Green Building Council. It is a not-for-profit national industry association committed to the delivery of more sustainable outcomes across the design, construction and operation of Australia’s infrastructure. By driving more robust and innovative, social, environmental and economic outcomes, AGIC plays a role in improving the quality of life for communities and industry employees.
Currently a Director of Standards Australia, David brings a wealth of experience to the organisation, having previously held the positions of Chairman of the Australian Construction Industry Forum, President of Association of Consulting Engineers Australia (now Consult Australia) and Director of the Cooperative Research Centre for Construction Innovation.
“Arup is proud to have such strong links with AGIC and other industry bodies, and David’s appointment will only strengthen these ties,” said Peter Bailey, Arup’s Australasia CEO and Chair.
Commenting on his new position, David said: “I am honoured to have been appointed as chairman of this progressive and well-supported organisation. After a strong year in 2011, I look forward to leading a number of projects in 2012, including the launch of our new sustainability rating tool in February.”
As a founding member of the Arup Group Board and a former chairman of Arup’s global infrastructure business (2004-2011), David will continue to play an integral role in the growth and development of the firm’s operations worldwide.
