New Qld expo focuses on waste and recycling
A new waste and recycling event has launched in Queensland and will be held on 29–30 July 2027 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The event, ‘LOOP Queensland 2027 – The Resource Recovery & Circular Economy Expo’, has been established as a dedicated industry platform bringing together government, infrastructure planners, waste and recycling operators, technology providers and environmental service organisations to explore practical solutions for the decade ahead.
The sector is rapidly shifting from a traditional waste management model to one focused on recycling, circular supply chains and long-term economic value. Industry leaders say the years leading into 2032 (when the state will host the Summer Olympics) represent a defining period for investment, policy reform and infrastructure development across Queensland.
Deborah Evans, CEO of Expertise Events, said the event was designed to focus on real-world implementation and collaboration.
“LOOP Queensland is about bringing the industry together in a way that reflects how decisions are actually made and implemented. Our commitment is to deliver an event that combines practical demonstrations, site visits and strong educational streams, alongside a showcase of products and services that will help shape the future of resource recovery and circular economy in Australia,” Evans said.
Alison Price, CEO of the Waste Recycling Industry Association Queensland (WRIQ), said the sector has a significant role to play in supporting the state’s ambitions leading into 2032.
“WRIQ’s involvement in LOOP Queensland positions our sector as an essential industry that is central to Queensland’s environmental, economic and circular economy future,” Price said. “Events like this provide an important opportunity to showcase innovation, elevate industry capability, and strengthen collaboration between industry, government and the broader community. Through our involvement, we want to ensure the conversations remain practical, outcomes-focused and reflective of the real operational challenges and opportunities.”
LOOP Queensland aims to showcase best-practice solutions, strengthen industry collaboration, and support the delivery of world-class sustainability outcomes as Queensland prepares for unprecedented international attention in the lead-up to 2032.
