Waste exchange database

Wednesday, 20 December, 2006

A waste exchange database, developed by the Victorian Waste Management Association (VWMA) with support from EPA Victoria, is designed to assist users with the diversion of waste, and in particular prescribed industrial waste or hazardous waste from landfill, by promoting its reuse and recycling.

The database provides a forum for waste generators and potential recyclers to make initial contact to develop a partnership to bring about significant environmental and economic benefits.

The database will put waste otherwise going to landfill into the reuse domain as a potential resource.

The 'waste exchange' database administered by the VWMA is provided to industry and other users free of charge with the support of EPA.

Rob Allen, executive officer of the VWMA, says the new database will allow for better management of all wastes and as such manufacturers in particular are encouraged to use this free service.
