The Prosonic S FMU90 is a heavy industry ultrasonic level and open channel flow measuring system. It is suitable for accurate level measurement of bulk liquids and solids and replaces the Prosonic FMU 860/1/2 family.

The unit is available with a range of six remote IP68 sensors, selected by the distance of the level measurement. The FDU91 sensor is for short distances from as little as 300 mm to 10 m, while at the other end of the range is the FDU96 which operates up to 70 m. The transmitter automatically detects which sensor is connected and configures itself accordingly.

The FDU91/92 sensors feature a fully welded housing made from PVDF or 316L stainless steel and can resist CIP cleaning and peak temperatures of 135°C. The FDU94/96 long-range sensors can withstand temperatures of 150°C as found in cement silos and incorporate a self-cleaning sensing membrane for use in harsh and dusty applications.

All sensors can be mounted up to 300 m from the transmitter and include an integrated temperature measurement for automatic temperature compensation of the time-of-flight signal, improving accuracy under all conditions.

The small footprint Prosonic S remote transmitter is available for DIN rail or panel mounting or a robust IP66 plastic housing for pipe and field mounting if required. The clear, backlit, six-line text displays the menu operation and can also display envelope curves, trending curves and PV. Available for single and dual sensor operation, it features two fully configurable 4-20 mA outputs with HART on one output, or Profibus DP.

For alternating pump control, up to six relays can be selected, and screen and rake control is possible. When using two sensors, average, difference or sum of levels can be selected.

In open channel flow applications, the unit offers a selection of 77 pre-programmed flow curves for industry standard flumes and weirs, such as Khafagi-Venturi, Parshall, Palmer-Bowlus. A 32-point user-configurable linearisation curve is also provided. Using a single sensor, both level and flow can be measured, and using two sensors, backwater flow can be detected. Up to three non-resettable totalisers and three resettable totalisers are available.

Together with the 'ToFTool-FieldTool' software package, the unit is a cost-effective solution for water authorities, town councils and various industries that need to monitor levels in weirs, sumps, silos, hoppers, conveyers and crushers.
