Huhtamaki Australia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with environmental waste partner, SITA. The agreement will support Bioware, a range of renewable plant resource-based food packaging products made from biodegradable and compostable materials, launched by global packaging company Huhtamaki.

SITA will provide waste collection and compost facilities for both Bioware products and food waste without the hassle of having to separate the two items before disposal. This total environmental package allows the two companies to close the loop between packaging and composting by offering a "˜green' solution to new clients and current customers.

After over six months of comprehensive testing and analysis of Bioware products, SITA has certified the composting capability of the entire range via its industrial facilities. This is further strengthened with composting certification from Europe and North America for materials used in the products.

SITA Environmental Solutions (SITA) services include recycling domestic collection, commercial and industrial collection, waste assessment and resource recovery options, sorting, processing such as composting, autoclaving, product destruction, waste stabilisation, engineered landfill operations and transfer facilities.
