Registrations open for the National Energy Efficiency Conference 2017

Thursday, 24 August, 2017

Registrations are now open for this year’s National Energy Efficiency Conference, which will take place from 20–21 November at Pullman and Mercure Melbourne Albert Park. The event theme for 2017 — Security, Affordability, Productivity — underlines the growing recognition that smart demand side investments are the quickest and cheapest way to solve Australia’s energy crisis, and to keep our energy system reliable and affordable.

Now in its ninth year, the National Energy Efficiency Conference is a flagship event for energy efficiency, distributed generation and demand management. The 2017 event will bring together up to 400 of Australia’s foremost energy efficiency experts, forward-thinking policymakers, innovative energy users, political leaders and industry trailblazers to network, debate and analyse the latest thinking on boosting productivity by saving energy.

Californian Energy Commissioner Andrew McAllister, keynote speaker for the event, is a leader in a state that has been aggressively pursuing energy efficiency opportunities for over 30 years. He is a passionate advocate for balancing the move to low-carbon generation with smart demand side investments, to ensure energy remains affordable for businesses and households.

Commissioner McAllister has been a key part of several clean energy policy and programs over his entire 25-year career, having developed and operated energy efficiency initiatives for utilities, undertaken policy research for the Californian and US governments and run two of California’s signature energy programs (California Solar Initiative and Self-Generation Incentive Program). He thus has keen insight into the transformation taking place in energy systems in Australia and around the world.
