Publication of waste and recycling reports
The Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities has released the Hazardous Waste Data Assessment.
The assessment increases the level of public information available regarding hazardous waste generated in states and territories by providing a compilation of available data and information on hazardous waste volumes in Australia.
The Hazardous Waste Data Assessment comprises two reports:
- Hazardous Waste Data Assessment (the data report) - compiles data and information on hazardous waste generation in Australia, including the hazardous waste that crosses state, territory or national borders and hazardous waste that remains within a single jurisdiction.
- Hazardous Waste Data Summary (the summary report) - provides further interpretation and analysis of the data presented in the Hazardous Waste Data Assessment and draws out headline messages about hazardous waste generation in Australia.
The Hazardous Waste Data Assessment can be accessed at www.environment.gov.au/wastepolicy/publications/hazardous-waste-data.html.
The department has also released Organics Recycling in Australia - Industry Statistics 2011.
The report is intended to provide national and jurisdictional data regarding the type and amount of organics recycling that occurred in 2010-11. Details reported include the number and type of organics recycling facilities and the quantities of organic material received and processed.
Organics Recycling in Australia - Industry Statistics 2011 can be accessed at www.environment.gov.au/wastepolicy/publications/organics-recycling.html.
