New national deputy president for Engineers Australia
Dr David Cruickshanks-Boyd has been elected as national deputy president of Engineers Australia for 2014 and will assume the position of national president in 2015.
Dr Cruickshanks-Boyd is currently regional director South Australia and national director of sustainability for consulting firm Parsons Brinckerhoff. He has been involved in a number of recent initiatives for Engineers Australia, noting that he was “part of the national steering committee that updated the Engineers Australia Code of Ethics in 2010 which now incorporates an obligation to promote sustainability”.
“My reason for standing for national deputy president is to lead the organisation through change that will see its governance model modernised for the benefit of our members,” he said. “My overriding objective during my term of office will be to see Engineers Australia increasingly recognised and valued as a lifelong professional home for all Australian engineers.”
Parsons Brinckerhoff president and chief operating officer for Asia Pacific, Guy Templeton, said Dr Cruickshanks-Boyd’s “ability to engage with community and business at all levels is well honed, as is his collaborative style of leadership, making him an ideal candidate for this role”.
