Grundfos announces first global GreenPlumbers partnership

Thursday, 02 July, 2009

Grundfos Pumps has joined with GreenPlumbers to help guide and support Australian and international plumbers to deliver improved water and energy conservation practices.

GreenPlumbers is an innovative initiative developed by the Master Plumbers and Mechanical Service Association of Australia (MPMSAA). This new partnership is based on a global sponsorship of all water and energy GreenPlumbers training programs. Grundfos USA has recently signed a similar agreement with Omni, which delivers GreenPlumbers training throughout North America.

The national MPMSAA training provider ensures GreenPlumbers' training and accreditation programs are designed to assist plumbers in performing their role in relation to environmental plumbing. This increases the capacity of the plumbing industry to provide its customers with up-to-date information and advice on areas including: energy-saving appliances, practical installation knowledge, environmental impacts of plumbing services, appliances and household practices, and consumer information on energy and water savings, such as short-term and long-term cost comparisons and environmental benefits.

Gary Workman, General Manager Business Membership Services of MPMSAA, says, "Having a strong, reputable organisation such as Grundfos onboard as a Global partner, will provide an excellent supporting platform in Australia and as we extend the GreenPlumbers programs into Asia and other parts of the world."

GreenPlumbers works with the plumbing industry and government agencies to implement the training and accreditation program. The focus is on changing consumer and plumbing behaviour through the use of energy efficiency and water-saving technologies.

Annually, GreenPlumbers, via MPMSAA, delivers well over 200 training programs Australia wide and estimates it will train and accredit more than 2000 plumbers in Australia during 2009. There are nine separate training units that are nationally accredited and form a qualification recognised through the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) to meet national training standards.

All MPMSAA GreenPlumbers training programs are open to a wide target audience, including licensed/registered plumbing practitioners, builders, local government officers, teachers, apprentices, designers, specifiers and other trade-related areas.

Grundfos and GreenPlumbers look forward to delivering a clear, consistent and concise sustainable message to ensure that the plumbers of today make responsible environmental choices for the future.
