Emissions trading in the spotlight
Emissions trading as a solution to global warming will go under the spotlight when key commentators tackle the subject at a seminar in Sydney on 1 November, organised by the NSW Division of the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE).
Dr Graeme Pearman FAA FTSE, a national and international expert in research on carbon dioxide levels in the global atmosphere, convenor of ATSE’s Climate Change Forum and former director of CSIRO Climate, will be the lead speaker, addressing the seminar on ‘Policy Drivers: Implications of Science’.
Brett Janissen, Allen Consulting Group, will discuss ‘Emissions Trading Mechanisms’ and Roger Wilkins, former chair, National Emissions Trading Task Force, will talk about ‘A National Trading Scheme’.
Other speakers include:
• Chris Dunstan, NSW manager, Australian Clean Energy Council; • Tony Wood, executive GM Corporate Communications and Government Relations, Origin Energy; • Dr Daniel Roberts, research group leader, CSIRO Energy Technology.
The seminar could provide input to the climate change review being undertaken by Professor Ross Garnaut for the state and territory governments.
“The seminar provides an unrivalled opportunity to discuss issues with an audience drawn from company boards and senior management, government policy advisors, financiers, researchers and consultants,” said Mr Richard Kell AM FTSE, chair of the NSW Division of ATSE.
