Council provides rebates to improve energy efficiency
Through Ku-ring-gai Council’s Net Zero Communities program, the council is providing new ‘Electrify Everything’ rebates to help residents make their homes more energy-efficient.
The council has committed to a sustainable future by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, creating energy-efficient homes and preserving Ku-ring-gai’s natural beauty.
The council’s existing Energy Smart program has been upgraded so residents can now claim up to $3000 across all rebates within a five-year period.
The new rebates can be claimed on induction cooktops, solar and batteries, insulation and windows, hot water heat pump systems and pool pump upgrades. Apartment blocks can also claim rebates for solar, EV charging, and energy audits and upgrades.
Ku-ring-gai Mayor Christine Kay said the rebates would help residents make simple changes to their homes and big impacts on the environment.
“Switching from gas to electric is one of the quickest ways to make a real impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions — and it’s something you can do gradually as you replace old appliances,” Kay said.
“By making your home more energy-efficient and switching to solar power or green energy, you will help our community reach our net zero targets.”
Ku-ring-gai residents can try out induction cooktops before they commit to purchasing. Ku-ring-gai Libraries provide single and double hob induction cooktops to borrow and try out for one week. Residents can then claim the new $500 induction cooktop rebate to help purchase their own.
“Switching to all-electric is better for your hip pocket, better for the environment and the healthiest option for your home and family,” Kay said.
