Cellular gateway

Utility meters in the field are usually a long way away from the corporate office where people and computers are involved with monitoring and data transformation processes.

Though mobile metering solutions are still quite common, the efficiency and cost savings of automated fixed network metering systems are said to be considerable.

Remote network AMR systems offer the advantages of lower personnel costs and ‘anytime, anywhere’ access to information out in the field.

The gateway:

  • uses the cellular telephone network to extend the reach of AMR networks right to the office;
  • provides secure two-way communications for remote meter reading and network administration operations; and
  • a single Wavecell forwards readings and alerts from up to 2000 Wavenis nodes.
