Environmental improvement in sustainability indexes
Royal Philips Electronics has improved its sustainability performance in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes for the fourth consecutive year, showing that the company continues to capitalise on the growing demand for energy-efficient and eco-friendly products.
Philips scored 82 points out of a 100 compared to 64 points in 2003. Its environmental performance improved from 73 points in 2003 to 90 points in the current indexes.
"In line with our overall strategy of improving people's lives, we continue to focus on sustainability as a business opportunity. Green products accounted for EUR4 billion, or 15% of total sales last year and we expect that number to continue to rise. Our global sector leadership position in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes is recognition of our journey to become an even more sustainable company," said Barbara Kux, chair of the Sustainability Board and member of the Group Management Committee.
