Next-generation wind power for Goyder North Wind Farm

Vestas has been awarded an order for 48 V172-7.2 MW EnVentus wind turbines for Neoen’s 346 MW Goyder North Wind Farm in South Australia, including a decades-long service agreement to deliver long-term, reliable clean energy.

Goyder North Wind Farm is a 346 MW wind farm in SA’s mid-north region, part of Neoen’s flagship Goyder Renewables Zone. Located in the state’s Mid North region, 15–25 km north-east of Burra on the lands of the Ngadjuri Nation, the project will feature 48 V172-7.2 MW wind turbines and harness the region’s strong wind resource.

Once operational, Goyder North Wind Farm is expected to generate approximately 1.3 TWh of renewable energy annually, enough to boost wind generation in South Australia by approximately 10%, supporting the state’s transition to a secure, low-carbon energy system.

“The start of construction at Goyder North is a major milestone for our flagship Goyder Renewables Zone,” said Jean-Christophe Cheylus, CEO, Neoen Australia & New Zealand. “We’re excited to work with Vestas, whose technology and wind expertise make them the right partner to bring this project to life. Together with local landholders and communities, we’re delivering infrastructure that will create regional opportunities and provide renewable energy at scale for South Australia.”

Danny Nielsen, Senior Vice President & Country Head, Australia & New Zealand, Vestas, added, “Projects like Goyder North are critical to Australia’s energy future. They demonstrate what can be achieved when customers, industry and communities work together to deliver the infrastructure needed to support long-term energy security and reliable electricity supply. Together with Neoen, we are proud to contribute to a project that will help power homes, businesses and industries for decades to come.”

Delivery of components is expected to commence at the start of 2028, while commissioning is planned for the end of 2028.
