CEOs to cook for those in need

OzHarvest’s CEO CookOff, to be held in Brisbane and Sydney on 7 March, will bring together CEOs, managing directors, senior business leaders, chefs and companies to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable people across Australia.

Hosted by food rescue charity OzHarvest, the CookOff will see participants grouped into teams and paired with celebrated chefs from Australia’s top kitchens. Each team prepares a meal under the guidance of their chef and serves up those meals to the vulnerable men and women who are members of the OzHarvest family, who they are then invited to dine with.

One of the business leaders participating in the event is Wiley’s managing director, Tom Wiley, whose engineering-led design solution business services the food industry. He will join chefs such as celebrity chef Ben O’Donoghue, who stars in the TV show Aussie Barbecue Heroes; Javier Codina of Brisbane’s Moda; Ben Williamson, executive chef of Gerard’s Bistro; and Dominique Rizzo of Putia Pure Food Kitchen.

OzHarvest founder and CEO Ronni Kahn said the OzHarvest CEO CookOff is a great opportunity for Australia’s business leaders and top chefs to connect in a very meaningful way with those who are less fortunate.

“Food is all about caring, sharing, dignity and respect,” she said. “It’s an equaliser and a connector, and that’s what this event is all about.”

In the lead-up to the event, participants are expected to raise funds to support OzHarvest’s work feeding Australia’s homeless and disadvantaged via food rescue programs, as well as reducing food waste by redistributing quality, excess food from commercial outlets to charities around the country. Wiley aims to raise $20,000, which will contribute to OzHarvest’s collective goal of $1,500,000.
