SciDev secures US contract for PFAS remediation
SciDev has secured a contract with US consulting firm Halff for the treatment of PFAS-impacted, investigation-derived waste on US Department of Defense (DoD) sites. This is SciDev’s first contract in the US for PFAS remediation.
Under the $396K contract, SciDev will treat up to 190,000 L of PFAS-contaminated water across four DoD installation in the southern United States.
PFAS contamination on DoD sites remains a critical issue, with legacy firefighting foams polluting groundwater near military bases.
The DoD has identified elevated PFAS contamination across 80% of US military bases.
SciDev CEO Seán Halpin said, “I am thrilled our first contract in the United States for PFAS treatment is supporting the US Department of Defense. Assisting the DoD with their PFAS concerns is a strong validation of our world-leading remediation technology and highlights the growing global demand for sustainable, effective water treatment solutions.
“The partnership with Halff represents a significant commercial opportunity as we continue to scale our presence in the US, allowing us to take advantage of the broader national market for PFAS remediation currently valued at US$220 billion.
“It also marks a major milestone in our expansion into the US market for water technology services more broadly and underscores the critical role our proprietary solutions play in addressing pressing environmental challenges.
“We look forward to delivering measurable environmental outcomes for the DoD and expanding our partnerships across the defence, industrial and municipal sectors.”
