SciDev secures US contract for PFAS remediation

SciDev has secured a contract with US consulting firm Halff for the treatment of PFAS-impacted, investigation-derived waste on US Department of Defense (DoD) sites. This is SciDev’s first contract in the US for PFAS remediation.

Under the $396K contract, SciDev will treat up to 190,000 L of PFAS-contaminated water across four DoD installation in the southern United States.

PFAS contamination on DoD sites remains a critical issue, with legacy firefighting foams polluting groundwater near military bases.

The DoD has identified elevated PFAS contamination across 80% of US military bases.

SciDev CEO Seán Halpin said, “I am thrilled our first contract in the United States for PFAS treatment is supporting the US Department of Defense. Assisting the DoD with their PFAS concerns is a strong validation of our world-leading remediation technology and highlights the growing global demand for sustainable, effective water treatment solutions.
