Degrémont Australia adds Aqualogy ice pigging and network solutions

Thursday, 06 November, 2014

Water management solutions provider Degrémont Australia, a subsidiary of Suez Environnement, has added the ice pigging and network solutions of Aqualogy to the portfolio of water services provided to its Australian customers. Aqualogy is the technology and solutions division of Agbar, also a subsidiary of Suez Environnement.

Ice pigging is a relatively new method of cleaning waste and water pipes using slush ice, shown to use half the volume of water as alternative methods and to be significantly more effective at removing sediment and biofilm. As the technique does not use chemicals, there are no health risks when cleaning drinking-water pipes and there is much lower risk of damage to pipes.

Ice pigging services were introduced to the Australian market by worldwide licensee Aqualogy UK following successful trials in 2011. Degrémont will now operate the technologies in Australia and New Zealand under exclusive licence.

“Aqualogy’s technologies strengthen Degremont’s offering to municipal and industrial clients across Australia and New Zealand,” said Degrémont Australia CEO Roch Cheroux. “For many of our clients, ice pigging is complementary to our Advanced Network Solutions offering to optimise the performance of water networks, so we are now positioned to offer a more complete solution.”
