The 1630 oxygen analyser has been redesigned to take advantage of advances in solid-state electronics. The new series 1730 has a greater range of features while still retaining its ease of use.

A faster processor and larger display gives both operator and technical staff all the necessary information to ensure an optimum combustion environment for all types of furnaces, boilers, ovens, kilns and incinerators. The alarm logging feature will store 4000 events, recording date and time of activation, acceptance and clearance. Data export through the serial port or Mobus allows for remote diagnosis.

With three levels of protection, the series allows operators at the factory level to access alarm events. However, the system is locked and prevents unauthorised or accidental access to the calibration and commissioning levels. A switchmode power supply automatically senses voltages between 86-265 VAC at 47-63 Hz, preventing accidental overloading of the instrument.

Another key feature of the series is the ability to upgrade the firmware on a transmitter using an EEROM (electrically erasable ROM). Users will be able to access the latest upgrades from the Novatech agent and will then be able to flash the memory of all their analysers using the one EEROM. The air pump and the probes feature a power isolation switch which operates within 2 s to prevent destruction of the heater. Cold starts are also possible without overriding users' calibration settings.
