Macherey-Nagel has released a photometer, the PF-12, a lower-priced alternative to the more technically advanced 500 D.

Compact and light, the device works using different power sources, including mains, USB connection and 12 V car adapter. This makes the instrument suitable for use in both the laboratory or in the field.

Test results are stored and managed in a way that conforms to GLP requirements. Specialised software that is used to export these results is provided with each instrument. Upgrades for the instrument are also supplied at no charge.

The device is easy to use and no special training is required. The intuitive user interface, with pre-programmed test, automatic wavelength adjustment, is easy to follow.

The graphic display is large and can be read in sunlight. It uses advanced optics that are insensitive to external light and which help make testing quick and straightforward.

The device is programmed to perform more than 100 tests, including COD, total-N, total-P, ammonium and other usual wastewater parameters. Users can also program the instrument to perform 10 methods of their own.

The device come in a carry case complete with software, batteries, test tubes, funnels, beakers, syringes, USB cables and calibration cuvettes as standard. On request, custom kits can also be produced to user specifications.
