Aquaconsult Anlagenbau Aerostrip fine bubble diffuser technology
The Aerostrip fine bubble diffuser technology from Aquaconsult Anlagenbau GmbH Austria is being deployed in Australia by Eimco Water Technologies-AJM Environmental Services (EWT-AJM). The technology has been used for applications such as: breweries, tanneries, chicken, lamb, juice and snack food manufacturers, as well as municipal STP sites.
The Aerostrip technology is part of Aquaconsult’s range of fine bubble aerators. The technology is founded on the proven expertise of a company with more than 20 years’ experience in planning and engineering entire biological stage systems at wastewater treatment plants to comply with rigorous European standards.
Features of the technology include: oxygen transfer efficiency up to 60%; aeration efficiency from 3 up to 5 kg O2/kWh; 0 to 100% control of airflow range; non-clogging fine bubble diffuser membrane; capable of intermittent operation; stainless steel or PVC design; low maintenance requirements and costs; longevity, with trouble-free operation in some plants for 18 years; and competitive performance through optimal aeration efficiency value.
The aerators are designed to provide the optimal symbiosis between low capital investment and low energy cost on one hand and maximum performance on the other. Depending on the density of aerators arranged all over the tank floor, efficiency of oxygen transfer - and thereby standard aeration efficiency - is variable, resulting in optimisation of investment and operation costs again.
With its flat design, the fine bubble diffusers can be fastened directly to the tank floor. Thus, water flow created by mixers is not hindered by aerators as can happen with dome or similar design. Furthermore, no sedimentations can occur underneath aerators.
The materials used in the construction of the diffusers are resistant against all components that are permitted to be fed into a sewage treatment plant in accordance with German ATV-regulations (A115 Anlage 1).
According to the company, the performance of diffusers has been verified by many field measurements carried out by public authorities, universities and independent research institutes.
At heavily loaded plants, Aerostrip achieves an energy requirement of less than 0.3 kWh/kg BOD5, while at plants with extended aeration, figures are achieved of 0.5 to 0.7 kWh/kg BOD5. The diffusers are available in different lengths, from 0.5 up to 4.0 m.
