The TVA1000B is an 'over-the-shoulder' portable vapour analyser that offers both PID (photo ionisation detection) and FID (flame ionisation detection) in a single instrument.
Typical applications for this instrument include fugitive emissions monitoring at processing plants, emergency response in locating hot spots, hazardous waste site evaluation, leakage of underground storage tanks, survey ambient vapour levels in specific breathing zones and detecting natural gas leaks.
The benefits of both technologies in the one instrument are reduced weight and a single user interface, where users can simultaneously monitor and log inorganic and organic vapours. Dual detection is claimed to eliminate the time and expense of purchasing and maintaining two separate analysers.
Being able to detect inorganic compounds such as ammonia, carbon disulfide, carbon tetrachloride, formaldehyde and hydrogen sulphide with PID, while users monitor for organic compounds using FID, provides a safety advantage in hazardous areas because some compounds detected by PID cannot be detected by FID.
