Organic absorbent

Spilldoktor has released the reSorb range of organic absorbent materials, offering an alternative to conventional absorbent pads and socks which are made from fossil fuel. The range is made from recycled and renewable natural fibres, using a bonding technology that means the pads have a smooth, low-lint finish.

There is actually nothing new about the concept of organic absorbents, but what makes the reSorb range different is: hydrophobicity and performance.

The inherent problem with organic absorbents has been that they are not hydrophobic, so they will readily soak up water — this is not good for an oil and fuel absorbent product. Now with chemical technology this material can be treated to become hydrophobic and is therefore suitable for use as an oil and fuel absorbent. It is also still available as a universal absorbent, which means it has not had the chemical treatment described above.

The range of organic absorbents provides good performance; it can exceed absorbency rates of conventional polypropylene absorbent.
