The Almemo 2690.8 handheld data logger is designed for use in harsh environments and is suitable for use with all Almemo environmental and atmospheric monitoring sensors. The instrument includes a shock absorbing rubber cover and is rated at IP54 when used with Almemo waterproof input and output connectors.

Parameters such as wind speed, temperature, moisture, humidity, gas concentration including carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, oxygen and ozone; barometric pressure, low to high pressure, and many others can all be read live and also recorded for later analysis. Standard memory is 512 KB (100,000 values).

The instrument has as many 'virtual' channels as prime channels. This feature enables derivative parameters from the prime channels to be also displayed and logged. The instrument displays all data as alphanumeric lists, or graphically in plot or histogram format. All 'live' channels can be concurrently displayed allowing channel-to-channel on-the-spot visual comparison. The white background of the adjustable backlit LCD enables the data to be read in dark or bright outdoor locations.

With portability in mind, the instructions for the operation of the instrument appear as prompts on the screen. Each instrument is also supplied with software that enables it to be set up via a PC. The software includes a simple database onto which the data logged by it can be uploaded and analysed. Each logged result is labelled with the date and time, the numeric value of the signal, the engineering unit, plus other symbols if applicable.
