Exair Chip Trapper vacuum for contaminated liquid

Thursday, 14 January, 2010 | Supplied by: Compressed Air Australia Pty Ltd

Exair’s Chip Trapper offers a fast and easy way to clean solids such as chips, swarf and shavings out of used coolants and other liquids. The unit vacuums the coolant or liquid that is filled with debris into the included 208 L drum, trapping all the solids in a re-usable filter bag. With a turn of the flow valve, clean liquid pumps back out. Expensive coolant that used to last only six weeks can now last longer with regular use of the Chip Trapper. The unit is suitable for use on machines with sumps, parts washers, tanks and storage containers.

Metal chips in a machine sump can block the intake of the coolant pump which reduces the coolant flow, causing heat-related damage to the expensive parts and tooling. Regular cleaning of the sump with a Chip Trapper can eliminate this problem, the lost production and downtime.

The unit is compressed air powered and has no motors or impellers to clog or wear out. Safe operation is assured with a built-in pressure/vacuum relief and an automatic safety shutoff valve that prevents spills or overfilling. It comes complete with the stainless steel two-way pump assembly, directional flow valve, 208 L drum, lever lock drum lid, shutoff valve, 3 m vacuum hose, 6.1 m compressed air hose, chip wand, two filter bags and a drum dolly. An optional spill recovery kit is also available.
