C&D recycling facility

Thursday, 14 January, 2010 | Supplied by: Alex Fraser Recycling

The $45 million Western Metropolitan Recycling Facility, owned and operated by the Alex Fraser Group, has been opened in Melbourne.

Designed for recycling construction and demolition (C&D) materials, the facility will be capable of recycling up to one million tonnes of C&D materials each year. This is equivalent to nearly a third of Victoria’s entire C&D recycling effort in 2007-08.

Some of the key features of the plant include the dual jaw crushers at the face, the comprehensive multi-layered separation system, state-of-the-art computerised technology for monitoring and control, and the high-capacity pugmill and load out system for faster turnaround of trucks.
