Victorian Litter Innovation Fund released
Sustainability Victoria (SV) has released Round 2 of the Victorian Litter Innovation Fund. The $700,000 fund is a component of the Victorian Litter Plan and provides support for the Victorian community to fund innovative approaches that prevent and reduce the impact of litter and illegal dumping.
Over $300,000 was awarded to 22 projects through Round 1 of the funding. The recipient projects included innovative approaches to litter prevention such as waste kits for skiers, waste surveillance infrastructure and art projects using collected litter. For details on Round 1 recipients and the successful projects, please visit the SV website.
In Round 2 of the fund, government, businesses, not-for-profit organisations, social enterprise and schools can apply for a grant of up to $20,000 for innovative solutions to combat litter and illegal dumping. To be eligible for funding, applicants must also have registered for TAKE2 while projects must meet at least three of the elements of the Victorian Litter Action Alliance (VLAA) best practice for litter prevention. These elements are: education; infrastructure; enforcement; incentives; working together; good communication; and monitoring and evaluation. SV has released this information session video to further explain these elements.
The first deadline of the two-stage application process is Monday, 3 October 2016.
