Qld Govt backs new resource recovery event

A new industry event is emerging to help drive Australia’s circular economy agenda.

Supported by the Queensland Government, the event is gaining momentum among leading industry associations and a growing network of businesses committed to advancing resource recovery, recycling and circular economy outcomes.

Held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on 29–30 July 2027, ‘LOOP: The Resource Recovery & Circular Economy Expo’ has been created to connect industry leaders, innovators, technology providers, investors, government agencies and end users.

LOOP arrives at a critical time for Australia as organisations seek practical solutions to rising costs, resource constraints, sustainability targets and increasing community expectations.

The support of the Queensland Government reflects the state’s commitment to sustainability, innovation and economic growth. Queensland’s infrastructure investment pipeline, continued population growth and preparations for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games provide a strong backdrop for showcasing the latest resource recovery and circular economy solutions.

Minister for the Environment and Tourism, Science and Innovation Andrew Powell MP said, “Hosting LOOP in Brisbane showcased Queensland’s commitment to less landfill, more recycling and a stronger waste and resource recovery industry.

“LOOP brings together waste industry leaders, innovators and government to showcase the technologies and practical solutions that will help keep valuable resources in use for longer.

“Hosting conferences like LOOP in Brisbane supports local jobs and investment while showcasing Queensland’s waste and recycling capability to industry leaders from across Australia and beyond.”

Deborah Evans, CEO of Expertise Events, said the strong early response demonstrates the need for a dedicated national platform focused on delivering real-world solutions and fostering industry collaboration.

“Australia needs an event like LOOP now more than ever,” Evans said. “The transition to a circular economy is no longer a future discussion. Organisations across every sector are actively looking for smarter ways to recover resources, reduce waste, improve productivity and create new commercial opportunities.

“LOOP has been developed to bring together the people, technologies and ideas that can accelerate that transition and help turn innovation into action.”

Industry support for LOOP continues to build, with several organisations recently joining the event. Queensland Water, ACOR, Solving Plastic Waste CRC, WCRA and Keep Australia Beautiful have come on board as supporting partners, together with WRIQ as Official Event Partner.

Evans said the expanding industry backing highlights the increasingly cross-sector nature of the circular economy.

“This is no longer a conversation limited to waste and recycling,” she said. “Circular economy principles now influence construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, water, energy, transport, agriculture, sport, local government and many other sectors. The level of support we’re receiving reflects a shared understanding that collaboration is essential if we’re going to unlock the economic and environmental benefits available to Australia.”

A major feature of the event will be the LOOP Innovation Launchpad, providing a platform for startups, researchers and emerging technology companies to present new solutions directly to industry decision-makers, investors and government representatives. Application details will be announced to the industry shortly.
