realestate.com.au paints the road green

As a contribution to a cleaner environment, real estate website realestate.com.au has commenced replacing its company branded vehicles with the more environmentally friendly, hybrid-powered Toyota Prius.
realestate.com.au believes the move towards hybrid-powered cars will lower both emissions and fuel usage and subsequently reduce vehicle running costs. The Prius averages 2.2 L per 100 km fuel economy for city driving compared to the existing fleet at 8.8 L per 100 km fuel economy.
The high-tech hybrid engine is driven by a combination of battery and petrol to maximise efficiency and minimise fuel use. The Prius uses half as much fuel as a standard car of a similar size and emits up to 80% fewer emissions.
It is made using recycled and recyclable materials. The design minimises the number of components that need replacing in the event of a crash. Its safety features include dual air bags and an ABS breaking system.
realestate.com.au general manager, Shaun Di Gregorio said not only is the car environmentally sound, it also produces 3 tonnes less of greenhouse gas emissions per year.
This initiative is part of a broader plan in which realestate.com.au is being encouraged to think about the footprint it leaves and to look for ways in which it can reduce the environmental impact of its business.
