Enviropacific on the expansion trail
National environmental engineering firm Enviropacific Services is undergoing a major expansion in the scope and range of its operations.
The company has established a South Australian division and appointed Nick Wilson, well known in the state's environmental industry, as state manager.
“The environment market has really embraced our engineering and remediation services since we began in 2002,” Wilson said. “In Adelaide, we are already doing work for ETSA and there are a number of other operations in which we are becoming involved.”
Managing Director Matt Fensom said that the company now has four offices in the mainland eastern states and its fifth is in SA. It is examining the possibility of setting up a Western Australian office in Perth.
The company has also set up Enviropacific Demolition Services Pty Ltd to penetrate the demolition market further.
Director Cameron McLean, who founded the company with Managing Director Matt Fensom, said: “In the past, Enviropacific has always project managed demolition work. We have preferred to project manage the demolition phase because it requires a licence and is a highly competitive industry.”
Last year, the company was contracted to demolish the shale oil refinery near Gladstone in central Queensland. The job, which took 15,000 manhours and involved demolition of a 3000-tonne piece of plant, convinced the company that it had a role to play in the market.
McLean said: “It wasn’t until we established the company in Queensland, and obtained a demolition licence there, that we started to think seriously about taking on this work ourselves.
“It is a move that will benefit clients looking for a turnkey solution for projects involving demolition and remediation.
“Feedback from the client, Queensland Energy Resources, highlighted the success of the project and this was attributable to the robust management systems used by EPS and the professional, experienced team that executed the project.
“No third-party damage, environmental events or safety issues were recorded,” he said.
Fensom said that the company was involved in a number of alliances involving very large projects that were now coming off drawing boards.
