The Sustainable Packaging Alliance's (SPA's) 13th Round Table "˜Design for Recycling' will be held in Melbourne today.

Organised in association with the Australian Council of Recyclers (ACOR), the Round Table will focus on processes to enhance packaging production in order to reduce waste, reclaim resources, protect the environment and benefit the public.

Participants will gain a better understanding of:

  • Packaging recycling processes;
  • Critical issues for packaging design to maximise recyclability;
  • Contaminants in the recycling process and how these can be avoided;
  • The benefits of design for recycling;
  • Design for recycling case studies; and
  • Global and Australian trends in waste management and recycling that will have implications for packaging design.

Established in 2003, SPA's Round Table series is a forum for bringing together diverse stakeholders involved in and affected by issues relating to the environmental impact of packaging.

Participants typically include environmental managers, supply chain managers, packaging technologists and designers, brand managers, local, state and federal government departments and agencies and non-government organisations.
