Walk to work day
National Walk to Work Day (WTWD) will be held around Australia on Friday 5 October 2007 to promote better health and a cleaner environment. By registering, individuals, businesses and organisations can help to improve our health and environment, while supporting four major Australian charities.
The aims of WTWD are:
- To promote regular walking as a healthy activity (better physical, mental and social health);
- To reduce car dependency;
- To promote and improve the use of public transport;
- To improve air quality by reducing unnecessary vehicle emissions;
- To support the Heart Foundation, the Cancer Council, Diabetes Australia and the Australian Conservation Foundation.
Each participant will receive a WTWD kit including a WTWD cap and information flyer. The registration fee is $20.
