Voting open for Banksia's people's choice award
Online voting for the Banksia People’s Choice Award is now open, as part of the annual Banksia Awards. The award is designed to give the Australian public a say on the environmental project they believe will make the most difference to their lives.
Votes for the People’s Choice Award can be lodged at the Bansksia Foundation website, where details on each of the People’s Choice Award contenders can also be viewed.
Voters are given the chance to win one of three BigPond voucher packs, including a music, movie and game voucher, by answering a simple environmental question. Voting closes on Tuesday 15 July.
The public are encouraged to base their votes on three criteria:
- Which entry will have the greatest impact on providing Australia’s future generations with the wonderful natural environment that I have been able to enjoy?;
- Which finalist deals with what I feel is the most burning issue the environment faces today?; and
- Which entry gives me the most hope for a sustainable future for Australia?
The award will be presented at the Banksia Awards Gala Dinner at the Melbourne Convention Centre on Friday 18 July. The People's Choice Award is sponsored by Telstra.
Other awards to be presented on the night include the Prime Minister’s Environmentalist of the Year, Environment Minister’s Young Environmentalist of the Year, Origin Gold Award and Mercedes Benz Research Award.
