Two new appointments at Carbon Trade Exchange

Wednesday, 12 February, 2014

Carbon Trade Exchange, an electronic carbon credit exchange platform, today announced the appointments of Peter Hawkes as chief general counsel and Mia Mather as operations manager, both effective immediately.

Hawkes has over 15 years of legal experience and expertise in the development and operation of carbon, renewable energy certificates (RECs) and water markets in Australia and overseas. He will be responsible for overseeing the legal and compliance activities of CTX, government affairs and implementing CTX’s global licensing strategy. He takes over from Nathan Rockliff, who will focus on his role as chief operating officer and CTX’s expansion into international markets.

“We are proud to have Peter join our team and after more than two years working together know he fits our culture and sees the future growth,” said CTX founder and CEO Wayne Sharpe. “His carbon experience, from the very beginning of the global carbon markets, is rare and, as CTX expands into RECs and other environmental credits, his depth of knowledge in law and practical application will be invaluable.”

A highly experienced administrator, Mather replaces Zorica Delevic, who is relocating back to the UK. She will be responsible for managing all new member applications, back-office processes for the exchange platform operations, foreign exchange aspects of the clearance and settlement process, and ensuring organisational effectiveness across the business and all platforms. She will also contribute to the development and implementation of business strategies, policies and practices and will manage the operational activities of CTX.

“We welcome Mia, who will head a dynamic new admin team and brings the experience, energy and enthusiasm to grow our young team into a world-class support for our expanding markets operation team,” said Sharpe.
