SunWater awarded for regional pipeline project

Tuesday, 10 September, 2013

SunWater’s Chinchilla Beneficial Use Scheme took out the top regional award in the 2013 Queensland Project Management Achievement Awards, hosted by the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) in Brisbane last week.

SunWater Manager, Project and Business Development, Gillian Haussmann; Senior Project Manager, Mitchell Pratt; and Project Manager Approvals, Kerrie Klopper.

The scheme began when QGC engaged SunWater to build, own, operate and maintain a 20 km underground pipeline to transport treated coal seam gas (CSG) water from its Kenya water treatment plant to SunWater’s Chinchilla Weir.

The pipeline will provide the Chinchilla district with up to 85 ML of water per day for use by local farmers, the Chinchilla township and industrial users.

SunWater General Manager, Industrial Pipelines, Tim Donaghy, said, “SunWater is delighted that the Australian Institute of Project Management has recognised the company for its efforts on building and managing the Kenya to Chinchilla Weir Pipeline.”

The award means the project is now eligible for the National Award, to be announced in October at the AIPM National Conference in Perth.
